Types of Cannabis
Sativa: Tall, slender plant structure Tight, elongated, pointed bud structures. Narrow leaves. Takes about 8 weeks to flower. Originating in hotter, dryer climates closer to the equator. Typically, more stimulating and energizing effects.
Indica: Short, bushy plant structure. Fluffier, shorter, more rounded bud structures. Broad leaves. Takes about 10 weeks to flower. Originating in more temperate, humid climates. Typically, more sedative and relaxing effects.
Hybrid: A cross between sativa and indica creating a combination of characteristics of the two. In 2025, most cultivars are hybrid due to growers crossing different varieties to achieve specific, desired traits. Can take 8-11 weeks to flower depending on lineage.
Ruderalis: Auto-flowering. Short stature, lower-THC varieties that will flower without a specific light cycle and within 3-5 weeks. Originating in colder, harsher, lower light areas of the globe.
