CBV - Cannabivarin
CBV is a propyl analogue of CBD and although CBV lacks a significant amount of research in comparison to CBD, they do share antimicrobial, anticonvulsant and antiepileptic properties. Like CBD, CBV may have anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, antipsychotic, and anti-tumor properties as well. CBV probably possesses antioxidant properties associated with neuroprotective activities similar to what CBD has shown.
Early research suggests CBV might make certain nerve cells less active. These nerve cells are involved in swelling and inflammation, seizures, pain and other conditions. When these cell are less active it can possibly improve these conditions.
CBV has a low water solubility and significant first pass metabolism with low bioavailability making it not ideal for edibles or oral consumption. Does not have psychotropic effects. It has shown to cross the blood brain barrier.
CBV has been recognized with orphan designation by European Medicine Agency for the use in Rett Syndrome and Fragile X Syndrome.
